Tools Meta Inspector

Meta Inspector

Paste any URL and see exactly how the link looks when it's shared or shown in search (across Google, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Slack, Discord, WhatsApp, Instagram and TikTok), then edit the tags live and copy a clean, ready-to-paste fix.

Meta Inspector fetches any page server-side, reads every tag that controls how your link looks in search and on social: the core SEO set (title, description, canonical, robots), the full Open Graph and Twitter Card families, your favicons and touch icons, language and hreflang alternates, and any structured data (JSON-LD schema), then shows you precisely how the link renders as a real, pixel-accurate share card on Google, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Slack, Discord, WhatsApp, Instagram and TikTok.

It’s built for anyone who wants their links to look right before they ship: edit the title, description and image live and watch every preview update, see a health score with prioritised, plain-English fixes (missing description, title too long, no og

, wrong image size, missing Twitter Card, no canonical, broken structured data…), browse every raw tag grouped by type, and copy a clean, complete <head> block built from your edited values, ready to paste straight into your page.

No login, no install. Every result is shareable: …/tools/meta-inspector/?url=example.com opens straight on that page’s report, and there’s a token-cheap ?url=…&format=agent mode that hands an AI assistant a plain-text summary of a page’s SEO and social setup.

Frequently asked questions

What are meta tags and why do they matter?

Meta tags are snippets of HTML in a page's <head> that tell search engines and social platforms how to title, describe and illustrate your page. Get them right and your link shows a compelling title, description and image in Google results and on every social share; get them wrong and you leak clicks. Meta Inspector reads them all and shows you exactly how they render.

What's the difference between meta tags, Open Graph and Twitter Cards?

The classic SEO tags (title, meta description, canonical) drive how you appear in search. Open Graph (og:*) tags control the preview card on Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Slack, Discord and most messaging apps. Twitter Cards (twitter:*) control how X renders your link. Meta Inspector parses all three families and previews each platform, so you can see at a glance what's set, what's missing and what to fix.

What size should my og:image be?

Use 1200×630px (a 1.91:1 ratio) for the large share card used by Facebook, LinkedIn and X's summary_large_image. Keep it under ~1 MB so it loads fast, and declare og:image:width and og:image:height so platforms can render the card instantly. Meta Inspector flags an image that's missing, too small, or has no declared dimensions.

Is Meta Inspector free, and do you store the pages I check?

It's completely free with no login. Pages are fetched server-side only to read their tags, results are cached for a few minutes for speed, and nothing is stored long-term or shared. There's also a plain-text summary mode for AI assistants at ?url=…&format=agent.
