How to add a domain administrator in Cloudflare

A step-by-step guide to inviting NitroSites to Cloudflare with Domain Administrator access limited to the domain we are working on.
Giving NitroSites access to your Cloudflare account does not mean handing over your password. You invite us as a member, limit the invitation to the domain we are working on, and can remove us again whenever you like.
The walkthrough above shows the exact Cloudflare path. In short: open Manage account → Members, invite the NitroSites address, choose Individual Domains, select the relevant domain, enable Domain Administrator, click Create policy, then send the invitation.
What this access does and does not let us do
With Domain Administrator access scoped to your selected domain, we can:
- point the domain at the correct website or mail provider;
- fix DNS records, SSL certificates and redirects;
- clear Cloudflare cache when a change is not appearing; and
- configure the security and performance settings your website needs.
We cannot see or change your billing or card details, transfer the domain away, delete the Cloudflare account, read your email, or remove you as the owner. You remain in control.
To remove us later, open Members, find the NitroSites address, open the row menu and choose Remove. Access ends immediately.
When it does not go to plan
“The Members page says I do not have permission”
You are signed in as a member rather than the account owner. Whoever set up the account needs to send the invitation, or make you a Super Administrator first.
“I cannot find Domain Administrator in the role list”
That role appears when the scope is set to Individual Domains and a domain has been selected. If the scope is the whole account, the equivalent role is called Administrator.
“The Invite members button is greyed out”
The permission role must be saved first. Click Create policy, then the blue Invite members button becomes available.
“The invite is stuck on Pending”
Pending means the invitation has not been accepted yet. If it has been more than a working day, check spam or use the row menu to resend it.
“My domain is not listed in this account”
It may live in another Cloudflare account, or still be managed by a registrar such as GoDaddy or Namecheap. Send us the domain name and we can help identify where it is pointed.

Should I just send you my password instead?
No. A member invitation is safer, logged, compatible with two-factor authentication, scoped to one domain, and revocable by you at any time.
What is the difference between Domain Administrator, Administrator and Super Administrator?
Super Administrator owns the whole account, including billing, members and deletion. Administrator covers account-wide settings but not billing or memberships. Domain Administrator gives full control of the selected domains and nothing else. That is the role NitroSites needs.
Does adding a member cost anything?
No. Cloudflare’s free plan includes multiple members, and adding one does not change your plan or bill.
Will my website go down while you work?
Adding a member changes nothing on its own. If DNS changes are needed, we schedule anything risky outside busy hours and tell you first.
Can I limit you to one domain only?
Yes. Choose Individual Domains in the scope selector and select only the site we are working on. Everything else in your account remains outside the invitation.
